Yesterday was the fourth World Homeless Day, but actually the first time I’d heard about it. If you have ten minutes to spare, it is totally worth watching the videos below, both of which are aimed at changing people’s perceptions of ‘homeless people’ or, more accurately, people who are experiencing homelessness. As Bee Orsini explains in her TEDx talk below,
homelessness – that journey – might be a chapter in someone’s life, but it doesn’t have to be the whole story
I’m a sucker for an inspiring TED talk, and this one has now been added to my list of favourites.
In this video, people who are homeless in Orlando, USA tell their ‘cardboard stories’. Their one line insights into their lives definitely dispel a few myths about how and why people end up dealing with homelessness.
